RENAISSANCE WEBQUEST

INTRODUCTION

 

The word "Renaissance" is a French word that means "rebirth". From the early 14th to the late 16th century, a revival of interest in the values and arts of Greece and Rome led to a golden age of cultural blending and innovation. This Renaissance transformed Western European life.


During the Renaissance, The Western European world image shifted from a religious view to a worldly outlook. Renaissance intellectuals had a growing confidence in individual human spirit and abilities. This new focus on personal worth of the individual is called "humanism." 


THE TASK

Your assignment will be to research one of the famous Renaissance intellectuals assigned to you, answer the designated questions, and portray the individual at a Renaissance meal.




THE PROCESS


GATHERING INFORMATION

1.  Take notes on the person's accomplishments and impact. Be sure to get copies of art, diagrams, books, summaries of ideas, etc. that reflect this person's contributions.



WRITING

2.  Write a 1-2 page paper that specifically

     explains the accomplishments of this person

    describes the impact of the individual

    answers the focus questions posed for your topic.

    uses at least 3 sources

    includes a bibliography with your paper.

ROLE PLAYING

3. You will participate in a panel presentation as the person you have researched. For example, all Renaissance artists will be interviewed together. First you will give a 1-2 minute summary of yourself and describe or show you accomplishments and impact. Then you will discuss the focus questions with the other group member and the interviewer. Speak, dress and act like the person. You should have a poster which summarizes you accomplishments and impact.
