English as a New Language (ENL) Services

English as a New Language (ENL) is a specialized instructional program designed for students whose first language is not English.

Our ENL program is committed to meeting the unique needs of ELLs by providing targeted supports that help students succeed in the classroom while they learn English. These supports include:

• Developing skills in the four domains of language learning—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—along with pronunciation.

• Providing instruction in English using techniques that make academic content clear and accessible.

• Working with small groups of students who share similar language-learning needs.

• Collaborating closely with classroom teachers to ensure students acquire the vocabulary and language structures needed to understand instruction across all subject areas.

• Honoring and respecting students’ diverse cultures and languages by building on their prior experiences and teaching about U.S. cultural aspects.

• Offering translation services, family literacy programs, and specialized summer programs to promote parent engagement and support continuous student growth.
