COVID-19 Information Hub
COVID-19 has had a substantial impact on our lives in many ways and we are all continuously evolving to daily life changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. As we all experienced in the Spring of 2020, schools are just one of many areas in life that have had to be adjusted, and we continue to make adjustments for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.
The COVID-19 Information Hub has been created as a one-stop source of information for our parents, students, staff, and community members. We will be continually updating the information contained in this area as we gain more insight throughout the 2021-2022 academic school year. Things included within this section are:
We also have a dedicated COVID-19 Mitigation Specialist who will be working with our staff, students, and the Wayne County Department of Health throughout the school year to help ensure the safety of our students and staff. Our COVID-19 Mitigation Specialist is Kim Ernstberger. She can be reached by email at KErnstberger@gananda.org or by calling the school directly at 315-986-3521.
As the National Association of School Psychologists has stated, children look to adults for guidance on how to react to stressful events. It is acceptable to acknowledge some level of concern about COVID-19, without panicking and can result in children having a greater sense of why actions should be taken to reduce the risk of illness. Teaching children positive preventative measures, talking with them about their fears, and giving them a sense of some control over their risk of infection can help reduce anxiety.
We will all get through this, and we will do it by working together because we are all #GanandaProud!
