Update: Covid-19 Case at Gananda Middle School

October 11, 2021

Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,

Our District was informed today by the Wayne County Public Health Department that a middle school student has tested positive for COVID-19. We believe that this case of COVID-19 was contracted outside of school.

We have contacted those families impacted by the positive case at the middle school on an individual basis as directed by the Wayne County Public Health Department. The Wayne County Public Health Department will be reaching out directly to those families within 72 hours. No additional actions are required on behalf of the District.

We ask that medical questions be directed to your family doctor/healthcare provider. Administrators are currently available through email to address your school questions and concerns.

As a reminder, it is important to continue masking, physical distancing and practicing good hand hygiene. We practice these measures throughout our school day to ensure the safety of all staff and students. By reinforcing these habits at home and in the community we can work together to help contain the spread and keep our school community safe and our buildings open.
