Gananda Backpack Program
Dear Gananda Families,
We are pleased to tell you that the Gananda Backpack Program will continue for the 2024-2025 school year! The program is available to all students at Gananda. For the past 4 school years, we have provided food to between 75 and 80 students each year from the elementary, middle and high schools.
Students receive two breakfast items, two lunch items, two dinner items, snacks, fruit and more to take home for the weekend. We have had assistance from local organizations to provide extra food to students over the Thanksgiving, December holiday, February Presidents week and April spring recesses. The Gananda Backpack Program has sent home about 13,000 bags of food to Gananda families over the past 5 years.
Students who are enrolled will have their bags sent home with them on either Thursday or Friday. High school and Middle school students will need to pick up their bags from their school’s main office. Elementary students will have their bags sent home in their backpacks.
You can enroll in the program at any time during the school year. All you need to do is email Gananda Social Worker Sue Thoen at: [email protected] and include the following information in the email:
Students’ names, grade level, address, phone number, best email and any allergies. This email will serve as implied consent to begin deliveries. Once an email is received, deliveries will start the following Friday.
Sincerely,
Sue Thoen and Heather Keenan
