Gananda Welcomes New Leadership for the 2025-2026 School Year

Mairi Griebus has been appointed as the new Middle School Principal, effective July 1. Ms. Griebus brings with her a wealth of experience from her current role as High School Assistant Principal as well as time as a middle school teacher, and we look forward to her leadership in guiding our middle school community.

Elliot Butt, who has served with dedication as our Middle School Principal, will be stepping into a dual leadership role as Athletic Director, taking over for John Ticachek who is retiring, and Human Resources Director. His passion for student development and staff support makes him a perfect fit for this expanded position.

Joining him in the Athletics Department is Nicole Mereness, former ELA 8 teacher, who will take on the role of Assistant Athletic Director while also serving as the new High School Assistant Principal. Her dynamic energy and commitment to student success will be a great asset across both roles.

We are also pleased to welcome Lynn Boyer as the new Committee on Special Education (CSE) Chairperson and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Coordinator. In this position, she will oversee the Special Education Department and help lead key initiatives to support all learners. Kateri Warren, who previously served as Interim Special Education Director, will continue to advise and assist as we work to fill the permanent Director of Student Services position.

In district-level news, Staci Harrison, currently serving as the Middle School Secretary, has been appointed as the new Secretary to the Superintendent and Business Office. We congratulate her on this well-deserved advancement!

Finally, we have received a grant for a Community Schools Coordinator, and are excited to welcome Juan Alfaro, who joins us from Wayne Community Action Partnership. Juan will be instrumental in fostering strong community ties and ensuring our families are connected with essential resources and supports.

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming these outstanding individuals into their new roles. We are confident their leadership will continue to elevate Gananda and help us achieve new heights in the coming school year!
