Richard Mann Elementary Students Raise Over $17,000 for American Heart Association

Richard Mann Elementary students participated in the Jump Rope for Heart event during the month of April to learn about heart healthy choices and to raise funds to help others with heart conditions. When the totals were tallied from the month long event, the donation to the American Heart Association was over $17,000.
Students in all grades at Richard Mann Elementary were able to participate in this special event, and 178 students participated in the fundraising portion. Congratulations to Malina Alejandro for leading the way with raising $710 and Conlan Simpson coming in close behind with $650.  Miss Newton's class raised the most out of all of the classes with a total of $1,880.
In addition to fundraising, students learned about making heart healthy decisions such as getting at least 60 minutes of exercise daily, choosing water over sugary drinks, and eating fruit and vegetables at every meal.
A special thank you to physical education teacher, Staci Bufano, for organizing this event. Thank you also to all of the students and community members supporting this great cause. We are Gananda PROUD of all our students for this momentous achievement.
