Gananda Girls Varsity Swim Team Breaks Records in Section V Championship Meet

The Gananda Lady Blue Panthers Varsity Swim Team brought their best to the Section V Class-C championships on November 3, 2018. The team took five titles, set five new team records, and achieved the only two New York State Championship qualifying times in Class C.
Gananda Seniors, Darby McNamara and Krista Willard, are the only two swimmers in Section V Class C to achieve New York State championship qualifying times. McNamara qualified and won the 100m Butterfly while Willard qualified and won both the 50m freestyle and 100 freestyle events. Both ladies set new team records for each event.
The Gananda swim team continued their individual competitions with McNamara also winning the 100m Backstroke and setting a new team record for that event. Jocelyn Roos finished 10th in the 200m freestyle and 9th in the 100m freestyle while teammate Alexis Whitney finished 14th in the 200m freestyle and 6th in the 500 freestyle.
The team events brought even more success to the group with Whitney, Willard, McNamara, and Roos finishing 2nd in the 200 Medley Relay.  The group set a new team record with this event as well.
The team of Lillian Freeman, Kathryn Harms, Ashlyn Bolte-Pauley and Emma Linder finished 13th in the 200m Freestyle Relay, and the team of Willard, Whitney, Roos, and McNamara rounded out the relays with a win in the 400m Freestyle.
Congratulations to all of our swimmers on an outstanding season!
