Board Members

Greg Giles is in his third term on the Gananda Board of Education and currently serves as the Board President. He is retired from Kodak where he held management positions in human resources for various locations throughout the country and abroad including Rochester, California and China. Greg holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He is actively involved with the Board’s Policy, Student Achievement, Audit, and Technology Committees. Additionally, Greg serves on the 4-County School Board Association Board of Directors. In his spare time you can find him golfing, reading, listening to music, or playing duplicate bridge. His family consists of his wife Jolly Li, their child Jay, and their pet dog Cookie.

Greg explains why he chooses to volunteer on the Board: “My work life involved a lot of travel and I did not have the time for volunteer work.  In my retirement, I’ve wanted to give back to the community in a meaningful way.”

John Finnegan is serving his first term on the Gananda Central School District Board of Education. A resident of Gananda since 1999, John is a proud graduate of the district and a parent of a future graduate in the class of 2033.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the University at Buffalo and a Master of Education from St. John’s University. John brings valuable experience as an educator, currently teaching at the Franklin Campus in the Rochester City School District, a role he has held since 2017. He previously taught at the Urban Assembly School for Applied Math and Science in the South Bronx from 2015 to 2017.

Outside of the classroom, John is actively involved in the community. You can often find him supporting Gananda Youth Football and Cheerleading events, attending Gananda Soccer Club games, officiating scholastic lacrosse matches, or enjoying walks around the neighborhood with his dogs.

Robin, a Gananda resident for 26 years, is married to Mark and has raised four daughters Devin (Gananda Class of 2012), Mikayla (Gananda Class of 2015), Camryn (Gananda Class of 2017) and Maya (Gananda Class of 2022) in the community.

With a BA in Interpersonal Communications from SUNY Brockport, she transitioned from owning a small business to a career in medical equipment sales.

Her involvement in Gananda extends to serving on the Board of Education since 2006, taking on roles such as Vice President and President. Robin's commitment is evident in her participation in various BOE and district committees, covering areas like Finance, Audit, Safety, Policy, Community Relations, Technology, and Transportation.

Beyond official duties, Robin volunteers in diverse roles, including Mental Health Support, Empire Dragons AAU and in the past has volunteered time with Gananda Sports Boosters, Gananda Community Youth Theater, Gananda Dollars for Scholars, Gananda Youth Football and Cheer and Gananda PTSA.

Robin aims to keep serving Gananda, driven by a practical passion for giving back. Her balanced background and effective communication skills add value to the Board, fostering open and honest conversations that contribute to an optimal educational experience for all students in the district.
