John Finnegan, Gananda Board of Education President

John Finnegan is serving his first term on the Gananda Central School District Board of Education. A resident of Gananda since 1999, John is a proud graduate of the district and a parent of a future graduate in the class of 2033.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the University at Buffalo and a Master of Education from St. John’s University. John brings valuable experience as an educator, currently teaching at the Franklin Campus in the Rochester City School District, a role he has held since 2017. He previously taught at the Urban Assembly School for Applied Math and Science in the South Bronx from 2015 to 2017.

Outside of the classroom, John is actively involved in the community. You can often find him supporting Gananda Youth Football and Cheerleading events, attending Gananda Soccer Club games, officiating scholastic lacrosse matches, or enjoying walks around the neighborhood with his dogs.

Eva is in her first term on the Board of Education. Eva has been a resident of the Gananda community for 22 years. Eva holds a B.S in Elementary Education from SUNY Oswego and a M.S. in Reading Education from Syracuse University. Eva has taught elementary education at the Newark CSD and currently works at the Webster CSD teaching Computer Science to grades K-5.

Michael Cardarelli, Gananda Board of Education

Michael Cardarelli is in his first term on the Gananda Board of Education. He works for Avangrid as a Senior Internal Auditor and has been there for more than 6 years. He has been an auditor for more than 15 years with previous roles at Excellus Bluecross Blueshield and Xerox/Conduent. He is actively involved with the boards Audit, and Facilities committees. His family consists of wife Stephanie and two daughters Alexis and Ava. In his spare time you can find him out on Lake Ontario boating, golfing at Blue Heron, coaching Walworth Rec Softball, at Gananda Bandits Soccer games or Fitzsimmons Dance Studio competitions.

Michael explains why he chose to volunteer for the board: I ran for a seat on Gananda's Board of Education to ensure that everyone in the community has a voice in making the critical educational and administrative decisions. In doing so, we will strengthen and improve the quality of public education for our students.

Greg Giles, Gananda Board of Education

Greg Giles is in his third term on the Gananda Board of Education and currently serves as the Board President. He is retired from Kodak where he held management positions in human resources for various locations throughout the country and abroad including Rochester, California and China. Greg holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He is actively involved with the Board’s Policy, Student Achievement, Audit, and Technology Committees. Additionally, Greg serves on the 4-County School Board Association Board of Directors. In his spare time you can find him golfing, reading, listening to music, or playing duplicate bridge. His family consists of his wife Jolly Li, their child Jay, and their pet dog Cookie.

Greg explains why he chooses to volunteer on the Board: “My work life involved a lot of travel and I did not have the time for volunteer work. In my retirement, I’ve wanted to give back to the community in a meaningful way.”

Tim is in his first term on the Gananda Board of Education. Tim has been a resident of the Gananda community for 18 years. Tim has a B.A. in Economics from Syracuse University as well as a MBA from LeMoyne College, and retired from the L3 Harris Corp. in 2022. Tim is involved in Walworth Recreation (baseball and basketball), and is a volunteer JV and varsity soccer coach.
